Y-Strainer Overview
Strainer is a necessary device on the transmiss medium pipes, usually installed in inlet ends of reducing pressure valve, pressure relief valve, water valve or other device sets, to eliminate impurities in the medium and protect the valves and equipment normal use.
Y-strainer selection principle
1、Inlet and outlet diameter: In principle, the strainer inlet and outlet diameter should not be less than the matched pump diameter, generally is the same with the inlet pipeline diameter.
2、Nominal pressure: According to the maximum pressure that may occur in strainer pipeline to determine strainer pressure level.
3、Hole mesh choice: mainly consider the needed intercept impurities size, according to media workflow process to decide. All kinds of wire mesh block particle size can be check in the following table "strainer specification."
4、Strainer Material: strainer material generally select the same material of the connected process piping, for different conditions, you can consider to select cast iron, carbon steel, low alloy steel or stainless steel strainers.
